Did you know that over 81.5 million people have considered adoption? Or that as many as 600,000 children are estimated to live in foster or orphanage care in Russia alone? Did you know that more than 100,000 children have been adopted from South Korea since 1958, that in China, thousands of children are abandoned each year - mostly because of population control issues, and that in Guatemala, children are relinquished or abandoned due to the highest levels of extreme poverty in the Americas?

Families who have adopted, both domestically and internationally, who live in the Austin area, are striving to make a difference in the lives of children around the world. On Sunday, November 6, 2005, the third annual Austin Adoption Fair will be held at the Norris Conference Center from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. In addition, because adoption doesn't stop with the bringing home of your child, Adoption Knowledge Affiliates (AKA) will be hosting their conference at the same location on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5. Adoption professionals may earn CEU's at the Friday and Saturday sessions. For more information about their conference, www.adoptionknowledge.org.

Our purpose for the Austin Adoption Fair is to provide those considering adoption the opportunity to meet with adoption agencies, social workers, support organizations, medical personnel, and other adoptive families. In participating in this fair, future adoptive parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the joys of adoption.
